This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the original Batman TV series that debuted in 1966 starring Adam West and Burt Ward as the famed Caped Crusaders of Gotham City. So what better way to commemorate such a triumph than by releasing an all-new animated movie with West, Ward, and even Julie Newmar (Catwoman) reprising their roles from the original series?! I can’t think of anything.

Entertainment Weekly has provided the first teaser trailer for the movie, which maintains the tongue-in-cheek vibe of the original live-action series, complete with over-the-top dialogue and a hilarious death trap for the Dynamic Duo to escape from. West and Ward do sound older (obviously), but they step right back into their roles as if it were yesterday. Check it out after the jump!

Captain America: Civil War

Summertime. For most, it means going to the beach, blasting off fireworks, grilling steaks, etc. But for movie geeks, it means lining up for some of the years most anticipated blockbusters. Who needs fun in the sun and the smell of barbeque and gunpowder in the air when you have the comfort of a cool movie theater with the smell of buttered popcorn to look forward to just about every week? Okay, well, I like all of those things, but seriously this summer is going to be insane. Really don’t think I’ll even make it to all of these. Will you? Check out this year’s list of the Top 10 Movies to See This Summer and find out!

Batman v Superman

This is it. The first time both Superman and Batman share the big screen in a live-action film is finally here. Ever since Frank Miller’s Batman: The Dark Knight Returns comic book series first made its way into the hands of tens of thousands of superhero geeks around the world back in 1986, we’ve all wished and hoped for a live-action book-to-film adaptation of Miller’s story. While of course Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is not that story, it still brings us DC’s two most popular comic book heroes together for the first time in a live-action movie that is very much inspired by Miller’s story, and that is something we need to step back, breathe, and be grateful for. Even ten years ago, I would’ve completely denied it as a possibility that we would ever get a film like this. Yet somehow, here we are – and it brought a big smile to my face.

Ghostbusters (2016)

Call me crazy, but this looks really good.

The first trailer for Paul Feig’s long-awaited reboot (or is it?) of the Ghostbusters franchise is finally here after many fits and starts over the last decade. Simply titled Ghostbusters, the film stars Kristin Wiig, Leslie Jones, Melissa McCarthy, and Kate McKinnon taking over for the original cast from 30 years ago, battling the paranormal in the great city of New York (what a town!).

Little is known about the plot outside of this trailer, and unfortunately the original surviving cast was never confirmed to reprise their original roles from the first two films, and may just be playing different characters instead. Last we’ve heard, this is apparently not Ghostbusters 3 but rather a total reboot – although the trailer is misleading if Feig is indeed starting over here. But in the meantime, check out the new cast in action as they answer the call to chase ghosts, and get a peek at Slimer!

X-Files_Cast

After so many years of waiting, wondering whether or not Fox’s hit series The X-Files would ever get a third film, Fox decided that a limited series event for television was a better way to go, green-lighting six more episodes instead. Needless to say, fans were ecstatic. While we didn’t get a movie, we actually got more than we ever asked for, which was fantastic. More mythology, plus stand-alone stories for Mulder and Scully to investigate. It is hard to believe that it has already come and gone!
