Marvel has really been on a role these last few months. Iron Man 3 was a huge hit, ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. scored huge ratings for television this past Tuesday, and November 8th will see the debut of Thor: The Dark World. In order to prep us for the sequel to 2011’s Thor, Yahoo! has released a short featurette that doesn’t really tell us anything new, but does get us excited for the film nonetheless with a little bit of new footage from the film, and brief interviews with Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Tom Hiddleston (Loki). Hit the jump to check it out!

The Dark Knight Trilogy: Ultimate Collector’s Edition makes it way onto Blu-ray tomorrow, September 24rh, and it arrives with tons of new extras for die-hard bat-fans to behold. In addition to the three films and the bonus features that were included in their original retail releases, this Ultimate set also includes an extra disc with hours more of behind-the-scenes features, as well as a Hot Wheels Batmobile, Batpod, Bat, posters, and even a 48-page hardcover book filled with images from the making of the film.
The highlight of the set is the 76-minute documentary titled The Fire Rises: The Creation and Impact of The Dark Knight Trilogy, which includes interviews with Christopher Nolan, Damon Lindelof, Richard Roeper, Zack Snyder, Michael Mann, Guillermo Del Toro, and various Warner Brothers executives and producers discussing the making of the films. One chapter of the documentary, called Ensemble, includes Christian Bale’s audition for the role of Batman – wearing non other than the Sonar Bat Suit actor Val Kilmer wore in Joel Schumaker’s Batman Forever! Every comic and movie geek around the world knows how fans reacted nearly a month ago to the news of Ben Affleck being cast in Zack Snyder’s Batman vs. Superman. Essentially, it was the same thing that happened to Michael Keaton, Heath Ledger, and Anne Hathaway with other Batman films (all three actors were viciously maligned before their film came out, and generally well-received after fans saw their work in context), and yet people seem to somehow think that their negative reaction to Affleck actually means something this time around. Who are they kidding?
Well, as expected, Ben Affleck feels the same way, and he has finally commented publicly on the news on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. You can check out the clip after the jump!

It’s been two years since Warner Brothers released the last film in the Harry Potter series based on the popular books by J.K. Rowling. But today, it was announced that there are more stories to tell, although not about Harry Potter.
Fans already know about Harry Potter’s textbook, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (currently available for anyone to purchase). The book takes the reader outside of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, exploring what magical happenings occur elsewhere in the world, and claims to be authored by a fictional character named Newt Scamander. But today’s announcement from Warner Brothers lets us know that we will soon have far more than just a textbook when it comes to the tales told within. Rowling will in fact be re-teaming with the studio to pen screenplays for a film series based on the textbook and Newt Scamander! Read on for the official press release!

After weeks of speculation and rumors floating around the web, Warner Brothers has come out of nowhere and officially announced that none other than Ben Affleck will take on the role of Batman in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel sequel, tentatively titled either Batman vs. Superman, or Superman vs. Batman (I tend to prefer the latter, since a Superman sequel would seem to imply that his name should come first in the title). Read on for the official press release from Warner Brothers!

It has been a while since we’ve heard any news on a sequel to 2008’s Rambo, and when we do, it’s always something different. First, there was the idea that Rambo would get a little more sci-fi, with the lead character hunting down genetically engineered instinctual killers. Then, that idea changed into something more traditional for the franchise, with Rambo heading over the U.S.-Mexico border to rescue a young girl from human traffickers and drug lords. Finally, Sylvester Stallone went on record as saying that he was “99% sure” that Rambo wouldn’t be returning – at least in another film, that is.
As it turns out, Rambo may indeed return after all, as Entertainment One and Nu Image are currently developing a Rambo TV series, with Stallone in talks to join the project “on a creative level,” and word is circulating that he may even star in the series. Read on for more!

While the biggest buzz to come out of San Diego Comic-Con was Zack Snyder’s announcement of his Superman vs. Batman flick, as well as the title reveal for the next Avengers film (The Avengers: Age of Ultron), Thor: The Dark World somehow seems to still slip under the radar for some reason, even though it’s the next big Marvel film to be released this year that ties directly into The Avengers (Marvel’s biggest hit) with the return of Thor and his adopted evil brother, Loki. People are interested, and some great footage was apparently screened at Comic-Con, but it seems other comic-related films are getting more buzz these days (although Loki actor Tom Hiddleston did make quite an entrance in Hall H).
Well, the second trailer for Thor: The Dark World has landed online, with enough Thor and plenty of Loki to go around to hopefully remind people just how cool these characters are and that this sequel is what comic book fans should be focusing on right now. Judging purely from the looks of it, this film may be the Thor film that some fans wanted with the first, with much more action this time around, and it really seems to be going for a much darker tone than both the first Thor film and The Avengers. Yes, just like The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, The Hobbit films are getting extended versions as well. While fans of Peter Jackson’s take on Middle Earth have known this for quite some time now, the official details on the Extended Cut of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey have been released, as well as the first clip, featuring a nice little chat between Elrond and Bilbo that further connects the film with The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Ever since it was announced that Star Wars: Episode VII is going to be made, one of the big things fans of the Saga have been wondering (besides what the story will be, who will star in it, etc.) is if John Williams, who composed all six of the previous films in the series, would return to score the film. After all, Episode VII director J.J. Abrams usually works with Michael Giacchino to compose his projects, and Williams is getting up there in age (he’s 81 now). While it is still unconfirmed who will score Episodes VIII & IX, it was officially announced at Star Wars Celebration Europe that Williams will indeed be back to score Episode VII (although I’m sure that if he’s still alive and well that they’ll ask him to return for VIII & IX).
This really should come as no surprise to those who have been closely following Episode VII news. Williams recently shared his desire to return to the Saga earlier this year, and director J.J. Abrams later made the comment that Williams would likely be scoring the film. But it is great to finally get confirmation on this, since a great deal of the success of Star Wars and how the films resonate with fans emotionally is due to the genius of John Williams and his iconic musical themes. Hit the jump to read the press release and watch a brief interview with Williams discussing his return to the Saga!

It was only a matter of time.
Man of Steel, while not received that well critically, it did made a ton of money worldwide. Based on this, we knew a sequel would happen, and today it was officially announced at San Diego Comic-Con, although it was not necessarily what people were expecting.
The sequel to Man of Steel will team up Superman with The Dark Knight himself – Batman. As of right now, Zack Snyder will once again direct the sequel, co-writing with David S. Goyer, and the main cast of Man of Steel is set to return, including Henry Cavill as Superman. Batman, however, has not yet been cast, and the following press release confirms that he will be a “new Batman” and a more “fresh” take on the character, supporting previous speculation that they are indeed trying to reboot the character once again (Christian Bale’s recent comments also support this).
But this is not the only news. Even though the following press release deals only with the new Superman/Batman film, Heat Vision is reporting that a film based on DC’s The Flash is also in the works for 2016, followed by the long-gestating Justice League film in 2017. No official details as of yet for these films, but you can read the press release for the Man of Steel sequel (World’s Finest, anyone?) after the jump!
