Warner Brothers has released the first full trailer for director Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel, starring Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, and it really gives us our first real glimpse into the look and feel of the film, far beyond what we saw in the teaser.

The first half of the trailer focuses more on whether or not mankind will accept someone with God-like powers, a theme that was similarly explored in the X-Men franchise. The second half, of course, shows off some great action scenes, which is essential in selling a Superman film. All in all, it’s a fantastic look into the return of the Caped Kryptonian. Poor, poor M. Night Shyamalan. The man started out with a promising directing career, landing his first big hit with The Sixth Sense. After the success of that film, many followed him at first with every movie he made, expecting each film to top the last with a great story and twist ending. Many even touted him as the next Spielberg or Hitchcock. Of course, as we all know, this ended up not being the case, with each film being increasingly worse than the last, even when he attempted to escape this fatal pattern and directed an adaptation of the popular animated fantasy series Avatar: The Last Airbender.

So now he seems to be combining all of his experiences, for better or for worse, in creating the post-apocalyptic sci-fi film After Earth, starring Will Smith and Jaden Smith. While he is indeed directing another special effects film via a story he wrote, it appears he has enlisted the help of other writers to pen the screenplay this time around. Judging from this first trailer for the film, this may prove to be quite helpful in finally delivering a decent film again, as it actually looks quite good. Of course, we don’t know for sure until the film’s release next year, but you can check it out below and see for yourself.

A film that doesn’t seem to be on everyone’s radar (but probably should be) is Joseph Kosinski’s (Tron: Legacy) science fiction film Oblivion, starring Tom Cruise and Morgan Freeman. Up until this first trailer release for the film, hitting theaters next April, even this self-professed sci-fi fanatic had little interest (don’t ask me why). But sometimes all it takes is a great trailer to pique curiosity.

In the film, Cruise plays Jack Harper, one of the last few drone repairmen left on a future Earth after decades of war with a alien threat known as the Scavs. Nearly completing his mission, he rescues a woman from a crashed spacecraft – someone whose arrival triggers a series of events that wind up shaking the very foundation of everything Harper believes in, and forcing the fate of humanity into his hands.

It looks like promotion is really starting to move on Sam Raimi’s Wizard of Oz prequel, Oz the Great and Powerful, hitting theaters this coming March. While not much has been made public since this past July with the first trailer, USA Today revealed some some new images this week, and now Apple has finally released the second trailer for the film.

This new trailer starts out almost exactly like the first one from July, but then focuses more on the three witches (played by Mila Kunis, Rachel Wiesz, and Michelle Williams), and their mysterious reasons for recruiting a small-time circus magician from Kansas (James Franco) to defeat the wicked Witch, who has laid waste to entire towns within the Land of Oz. Hit the jump to check it out!
