Don't Be Afraid of the Dark

While this post arrives a bit late due to my current busy vacation schedule, my love for “old dark house” Gothic horror movies made it impossible to skip out on posting the new full-length trailer for Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, co-written/produced by Guillermo del Toro and directed by Troy Nixey. While the creepy teaser trailer released last August didn’t show much, this new full-length trailer reveals more of the story – while still keeping the thrills and chills in tact, of course! Hit the jump to watch both the UK and US versions of the trailer (and make sure to turn the lights off and the sound up)!

Christopher Lee

Christopher Lee, Guinness book world record holder for acting in more films than any other actor in history (266 to be exact), turns 89 today. Modern film fans know him for playing Saruman in The Lord of the Rings trilogy as well as Count Dooku in the Star Wars prequels, but his film career goes back all the way to the late 1940s. Most will say that his most famous role of all time is that of Count Dracula, whom he first played in Horror of Dracula in 1958 as well as the many Dracula films that followed from Hammer Film Productions.

In honor of his birthday, the Official Christopher Lee website posted a three-part Forbes interview with Lee discussing his web site, new media and how it has affected the entertainment industry. Just listening to the man talk is incredibly intriguing, and even comforting. Hit the jump to watch the entire Forbes interview as well as a vintage movie trailer for Horror of Dracula!

Green Lantern_3D

If you thought the last trailer for Green Lantern was awesome, wait until you see this! Essentially, this trailer (which will be in 3-D in theaters) takes a unique approach as far as movie trailers go, with the first half providing a narration by the character Tomar-Re (voiced by Geoffrey Rush) wonderfully summarizing the entire history of the Green Lantern Corps, and the second half going full throttle with tons of new action-packed footage! Take a look below (in 2-D, of course)!

TF3_3D Trailer

Transformers: Dark of the Moon has a new 3-D trailer out which will be shown before Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides if you go and see it in 3-D (which, from what I hear, is totally not worth it). Obviously, this trailer will not be in 3-D on this website, but it is still a great trailer in 2-D and, while it is very similar to the one just released a few weeks ago, it features a few new mind-blowing shots that are well worth a look. Check out the trailer after the jump!

showrunners

The world of TV programming can be quite challenging, especially ever since The X-Files essentially paved the way for modern television shows by producing a mini-movie every week. It is simply the gold standard for today’s hour-long fiction shows, as modern audiences have now come to experience with LOST, Battlestar Galactica, Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, Fringe, etc. Anything less just would not make it past TV executives these days; and, even if the quality of the show is great, that does not mean the show will last (as fans of ABC’s V have recently witnessed).

Director Des Doyle’s documentary Showrunners (currentlly in production) dives deeply into the subject of just what it takes to make a quality television show and just how ugly it can get sometimes. It features interviews with many big names in the TV industry, including Damon Lindelof (LOST), Ronald D. Moore (Battlestar Galactica), Jeff Pinkner and J.H. Wyman (Fringe). Check out the official synopsis and trailer for the documentary after the jump!

Atom_Real Steel

Last December, a teaser trailer for Real Steel (director Shawn Levy‘s upcoming futuristic robot boxing movie) made its way online which actually showed quite a bit of footage considering that it was only a teaser. Now, a full two and a half minute theatrical trailer has been released through Yahoo! Movies that not only shows off tons more robot boxing action, but also reveals much more about the story and its characters. This really does look great, and a lot of fun at that! Hit the jump to watch.
