The first Ghost Rider film, directed by Mark Steven Johnson and starring Nicolas Cage as Johnny Blaze/Ghost Rider was a bit of a let down for fans of the Marvel comic. At best, I thought it was an okay movie to catch on FX on a Sunday afternoon. We all wanted it to be great, but it just fell flat in the eyes of most people.
However, directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor promise a much better and darker film with their sequel to the film, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, once again starring Cage as the Rider. Probably a bad idea to raise expectations for this film, but the first teaser for the film does get my hopes up a bit, and David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight) is responsible for the story this time around. So, perhaps this could be just what the Rider needs to make a triumphant return. Check out the teaser after the jump!

The Woman in Black is a film I’ve been looking forward to ever since the first teaser debuted in April. Directed by James Watkins, the film stars Harry Potter alum Daniel Radcliffe, who plays a lawyer that makes his way to a remote village on business, but soon realizes that the town seems to be haunted by the ghost of a vengeful woman.
The trailer has that spooky, gothic horror vibe that seems to have been largely ignored these days in the world of horror films. It’s about time the genre made a comeback, and this film, along with Guillermo del Toro‘s Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark (which debuts August 26th), might just make it happen. Hit the jump to check out the new trailer!

Anyone who has read comic books or loves superhero movies has thought about what it would be like to actually disguise oneself and take on a superhero persona to go out and fight crime. Most of us probably pretended to do so when we were kids (I, for one, always wanted to be Batman). Well, believe it or not, there are actually real-life “superheroes” out there who literally wear a mask or some sort of disguise to cover up their identities in order to perform heroic deeds (some actually don’t disguise themselves). Whether it’d be assisting in community service needs such as helping the homeless, or actually combating crime (either by alerting the proper authorities or fighting criminals on their own), these people actually exist.
While they aren’t exactly Batman or Spider-Man, and perhaps have delusions of grandeur, they have set out to help the world with the best intentions. HBO‘s newest documentary, appropriately titled Superheroes (premiering Monday, August 8th at 9PM), dives into the motivations of these people who feel compelled to take the law into their own hands. It features interviews with many of the so-called superheroes, as well as other commentators who give their take on the subject, including Marvel’s own Stan Lee. It really looks like it’ll be quite an amazing documentary to say the least. You can check out the official trailer, press release, photos, and an interview with Superheroes director Michael Barnett after the jump!

George Lucas‘ film Red Tails has actually been in development over the course of 20 years. Now, after all this time, we finally have a trailer for the film! Directed by first time filmmaker Anthony Hemingway and produced by George Lucas, Red Tails chronicles the story of the Tuskegee Airmen – the first African-American fighter pilots to fly in a combat squad during World War II.
This is the first film from George Lucas in a while that isn’t Star Wars or Indiana Jones, and it looks really cool to say the least. Some pretty high-profile stars are in the picture, including Terrence Howard, Cuba Gooding Jr. and Bryan Cranston. It hits theaters nationwide January 20 2012, but you can check out the official trailer after the jump right now!

The final trailer for Rupert Wyatt’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes was unveiled at the San Diego Comic-Con this weekend, which features a montage of action footage from the climactic final act of the film. While the action is cool, I have to say that I was much more impressed with the third trailer that debuted a couple of weeks ago that featured more of the character moments with Caesar, played by Andy Serkis (Gollum, from The Lord of the Rings). If you have not yet seen that trailer, click here to check it out, because I have the feeling that it gives us a better idea of just how great this film could be. If you already have seen it, then hit the jump to view the final, action-packed trailer for the film!

The first trailer for Marc Webb‘s The Amazing Spider-Man has debuted online a bit early. This is essentially a reboot of the Spider-Man franchise, retelling the origin story of Marvel’s web-slinging superhero. Interestingly enough, the trailer focuses more on Peter Parker’s parents and how Peter came to live with his Aunt and Uncle – something that Sam Raimi‘s Spider-Man films never really elaborated on. I’m not too sure the darker tone they’re going for suits Spider-Man, and the Spider-Man P.O.V. sequence at the end could use a bit more rendering. But, the film does look good, and also different enough from the original 2002 film to make it worth watching. Check out the trailer after the jump!
