Life’s Too Short, the new TV comedy from Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant (The Office, Extras), has already been successfully entertaining British audiences since its premiere on BBC Two November 10th. While it has been known for a while that the series will premiere in February of next year in the United States on HBO, it was officially announced today that it will indeed premiere on February 19, 2012 at 10:30PM /9:30c.
This hilarious, yet endearing TV series stars actor Warwick Davis (Return of the Jedi, Willow, Harry Potter), who plays a comically fictionalized version of himself as he makes his way in the world of showbiz as well as his own personal life. While Davis is the star of the show, it also showcases numerous appearances by Gervais and Merchant, as well as a number of guest appearances by other high-profile actors such as Liam Neeson, Johnny Depp and Steve Carell. Hit the jump to watch the trailer, as well as a couple of video clips featuring Depp and Neeson!

While Glen Morgan may not be a name that is immediately recognizable to the average movie/TV fan, it is more than likely that most are familiar with his work. Whether it’d be through TV series such as 21 Jump Street, The X-Files or Millennium, or films such as Final Destination and Willard, the man has had quite an extensive career in storytelling. For me, he wrote some of my all-time favorite episodes of The X-Files, including “Home,” which was banned from network television after its first airing because of the episode’s intensely dark subject matter and visuals.
Over the years, the general perception amongst Glen Morgan fans has been that creative blood existed between he and his colleagues at Ten Thirteen Productions, and that, because of it, Morgan was unwilling to discuss his work on The X-Files, Millennium, etc. In a recent (and rare) interview conducted by Matt Allair from The X-Files Lexicon, Morgan got the chance to shed some light on the subject, as well as provide some interesting insight into his amazing career. Hit the jump to read some highlights from the interview!

This is a day I have been waiting for ever since FOX’s hit sci-fi series The X-Files ended its nine-year run back in 2002. THR is reporting that the show’s creator, Chris Carter, is finally returning to the small screen with a new “female-lead mystery police thriller” with a “supernatural element” to it titled Unique. No word on what network will pick up the show, which is being set up through Media Rights Capital, but my guess is that FOX will be fighting for this one.
Despite being an in-demand director and producer, Carter has pretty much been off the grid since The X-Files ended, with only a brief return to the big screen in 2008 with The X-Files: I Want to Believe, the franchise’s second (and hopefully not final) feature film. After developing such a widely popular TV series that put the FOX network on the map back in the 90s and redefined what could be accomplished on television, it was pretty much inevitable that Carter would return to the small screen.
For a great refresher on the career of Chris Carter, hit the jump to watch his extensive interview with the Archive of American Television!

AMC has announced that, starting October 3rd at 2PM EST, they will be hosting a new 6-episode web series on amctv.com for The Walking Dead leading up to the premiere of Season 2 on October 16th. The series will tell the back story of the “Bicycle Girl” zombie Rick Grimes (played by Andrew Lincoln) shot in the pilot episode of Season 1. Even though she was a very minor character in the show, her scene is also one of the most memorable, so this is sure to be an adequate way to hold us over until the second season premieres.
In other news, a new Season 2 trailer for The Walking Dead has hit the web. It contains some material we’ve seen before, but the majority of it is brand new. Check it out after the jump!

While I never really cared for Rob Zombie‘s music, and had no real interest in seeing his movies (although, what I have seen of his remake of Halloween seemed quite good) – he has always been an interesting, and sometimes funny person to listen to, no matter what he may be talking about.
Which is why you should tune in on August 22nd to Post Mortem with Mick Garris on FEARnet.com and On Demand (VOD) for a five-part interview with Rob Zombie where he talks about everything from his music, his movies, and even how he would love to make a Western someday (yes, a Western). The show will also premiere on FEARnet‘s cable channel on August 27th. Hit the jump for the official press release, photos, and a preview clip of the interview!

The cast and crew of The Walking Dead, as well as the fans of the show were stunned to receive the news that Frank Darabont would no longer be showrunner for the series. After all, he was the biggest reason the show got off the ground in the first place and became the success that it was in its first season. At the time the news was reported, no one knew the reason for his departure, and speculation suggested that maybe his feature-film background made him unaccustomed to the fast-paced momentum of producing a TV series.
As it turns out, the real reason was even simpler than that. According to The Hollywood Reporter, AMC fired Darabont. Read on for the depressing details.

Everyone in Hollywood seems to be jumping on the Frankenstein bandwagon these days. All sorts of projects are currently being developed that are based on or inspired by Mary Shelley’s classic monster tale. Not only has Guillermo del Toro expressed for quite some time that he wants to re-imaginine the story for film, but there are also two prequels in the works (Timur Bekmambetov‘s The Casebook of Victor Frankenstein and Matt Reeves‘ This Dark Endeavor), an adaptation of Dean Koontz’s Frankenstein: Prodigal Son, and Lakeshore’s film noir take on the Monster called I, Frankenstein. Of course, let’s not forget Tim Burton‘s stop-motion feature Frankenweenie that is currently in production, as well as an as-of-yet untitled adaptation of Frankenstein from 20th Century Fox. People just can’t get enough of the monster, and honestly, I don’t blame them, since I am a HUGE fan myself and will probably watch anything with “Frankenstein” in the title.
But is it all too much? NBC doesn’t seem to think so, as they are also currently planning an adaptation of Frankenstein for TV. Russel Friend and Garret Lerner (House, Smallville) have been hired to write a pilot script for a series that takes the story to a present-day setting. No further details have been revealed. It’ll sure be interesting to see it alongside all the rest of the Frankenstein stories being developed. But, while it is definitely a great time for Frankenstein’s Monster to reemerge, I just hope people don’t get worn out on it. Stay tuned as more details develop!

Two new videos for AMC’s The Walking Dead have debuted online. One is footage from last month’s San Diego Comic-Con panel (with former Walking Dead showrunner Frank Darabont seemingly unaware that anything out of the ordinary is about to happen with his involvment with the show), and the other is a featurette called How to Kill a Walker. Walking Dead fans, you cannot pass up watching these, as they are filled with all sorts great commentary and zombie-killing goodness! Hit the jump to watch!

Anyone who has read comic books or loves superhero movies has thought about what it would be like to actually disguise oneself and take on a superhero persona to go out and fight crime. Most of us probably pretended to do so when we were kids (I, for one, always wanted to be Batman). Well, believe it or not, there are actually real-life “superheroes” out there who literally wear a mask or some sort of disguise to cover up their identities in order to perform heroic deeds (some actually don’t disguise themselves). Whether it’d be assisting in community service needs such as helping the homeless, or actually combating crime (either by alerting the proper authorities or fighting criminals on their own), these people actually exist.
While they aren’t exactly Batman or Spider-Man, and perhaps have delusions of grandeur, they have set out to help the world with the best intentions. HBO‘s newest documentary, appropriately titled Superheroes (premiering Monday, August 8th at 9PM), dives into the motivations of these people who feel compelled to take the law into their own hands. It features interviews with many of the so-called superheroes, as well as other commentators who give their take on the subject, including Marvel’s own Stan Lee. It really looks like it’ll be quite an amazing documentary to say the least. You can check out the official trailer, press release, photos, and an interview with Superheroes director Michael Barnett after the jump!
