Well, MGM just can’t seem to get any bidders. Apparently the film studio, who owns the distribution rights to The Hobbit (which Warner Brothers/New Line Cinema is set to produce), is deeply in debt and no bids have been accepted by the debt holders. Thus, filming of the two Hobbit films appears to be delayed.

It has been circling around the web that this year’s season of FOX’s hit television show 24 could possibly be the last. Also, it has been speculated that NBC might pick up the series from FOX in order to prolong the show instead of letting the series come to a close this year.
Well, after much speculation and waiting from the fans, FOX has officially confirmed that the current season of 24 is actually the end and that NBC will not be picking up the series for the network. However, Kiefer Sutherland, who plays the legendary Jack Bauer on the show, confirmed another rumor that has been floating around to be true: The end of this season will indeed lead into a feature film version of the series!

Buck Rogers, the classic pulp character that inspired such film epics as the Star Wars and Indiana Jones films, is coming back to the big screen, but it won’t be directed by Frank Miller (The Spirit) as was originally announced. Paradox Entertainment (the company currently rebooting Conan) has teamed up with Incognito Entertainment to bring back this much-loved character, with Paul W.S. Anderson (Event Horizon, Resident Evil) attached to direct. Not only that, but it just might actually be filmed in 3D!

For those of you not in the know, George Lucas has been hard at work lately. Not only is he very involved with The Clone Wars animated series on Cartoon Network, he is also executive producer for the upcoming film Red Tails – a film that he has been wanting to get made for years now about the first African American WWII fighter pilots.
First Showing.net posted a story recently that George Lucas is not happy with the material that Red Tails director, Anthony Hemingway, has shot thus far and that the film needs to go through major re-writes and re-shoots that would drastically affect the characters and plot. Not only that, but Lucas would have to direct these re-shoots himself! Well, Lucasfilm says this is just not true, according to an article on Digital Spy.
