Those who have been following the news regarding Zack Snyder‘s Superman reboot know that Henry Cavill has been cast as Clark Kent/Superman, Diane Lane as Martha Kent (Clark’s adoptive mother) and that a rumor has been floating around for the last couple of weeks that Kevin Costner might play Clark’s adoptive father, Jonathan Kent.

In an official press release issued today, Warner Brothers has now confirmed Costner‘s role in the film! Read on for details.

LOTR EE Blu ray

Well, this is it!

Pretty much every fan of The Lord of the Rings Trilogy was let down that only the theatrical versions of the films were released on Blu-ray last year (hence the low sales). Collider reports that those versions were also “mediocre” transfers, so most people really had no reason to pick up the set.

However, we all knew that the Extended Editions were coming, and we now know that they will be released either later this year or some time next year in one set, and that it is available for pre-order now!  Hopefully these transfers are better. Ever since FOX All Access carried the story that a script for The X-Files 3 may be in the works and never shot it down (even though David Duchovny did), X-Philes from all over have been posting messages on their Facebook page almost daily, asking to get the film made and showing that the fandom has clearly not died down at all.

In response, FOX All Access posted an update on Facebook indicating that discussions are indeed happening and that a script is in the works after all! Read on for the quote!

Yoda 3D

As was announced last September, the Star Wars saga will be converted to 3D for theatrical release starting in 2012 with Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. Anne Hathaway

When the announcement was made that Anne Hathaway will be playing Selina Kyle in Christopher Nolan‘s The Dark Knight Rises, fans everywhere wondered if that meant that Catwoman will be making an appearance in the film, or if only the character of Selina Kyle will be in it as a love interest and never actually becomes Catwoman. Hathaway seems to think she will be playing the famous feline in the film, based on a comment she made on Oprah Winfrey’s post-Oscar special. Hit the jump to watch the clip!

Last month, the web was swirling with the news that Ridley Scott‘s Alien prequel supposedly became an entirely new science-fiction film called Prometheus due to script revisions at the hand of LOST writer Damon Lindelof.

While the film is in fact now called Prometheus, actor Michael Fassbender (X-Men: First Class), who will star in the film, said to MTV today that the movie is still connected to the Alien films. Hit the jump to watch the interview!

Last month, PCM brought you the news that “Back to Frank Black” (the online campaign dedicated to bringing back Chris Carter‘s hit TV series Millennium in the form of a feature film) was scheduled to bring together for the first time in over a decade Millennium lead actor Lance Henriksen, producer Frank Spotnitz and creator Chris Carter for an interview to discuss the possibility of a movie version of the show.
