Bane

Whether you enjoyed or disliked director Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises, one thing that everyone seems to be in agreement on is that the sound and music of the film is simply breathtaking, and probably will be rewarded quite substantially in next year’s awards season.

In honor of the film’s incredible sound and music efforts, SoundWorks Collection has released a great 9-minute featurette on the subject. It contains interviews with supervising sound editor and sound designer Richard King, as well as music composer Hans Zimmer. King discusses bringing The Bat vehicle to life, as well as making Bane’s voice the best it could posssibly be, and Zimmer of course gets into his thought process behind the wonderful musical score for the film.

If you have not yet seen the film, don’t worry. Nothing in the video reveals anything more than what was in the trailers. Hit the jump to watch!

Total Recall hover car

Columbia Pictures has been releasing fun behind-the-scenes featurettes recently for their upcoming remake/reimagining of Total Recall. While this version allegedly sticks more closely to the original Phillip K. Dick short story, We Can Remember It For You Wholesale, we do not get to go to Mars this time around, unfortunately. However, the film does have an impressive hover car chase scene that we have seen in every trailer for the film that looks spectacular enough on its own to get butts into theaters this weekend to see the movie anyway. This new featurette shows us how they took a more practical approach to the chase scene, and you can now watch it after the jump!

Total Recall

While Warner Brothers’ The Dark Knight Rises is the film on everyone’s minds right now (and will probably continue to be so for weeks to come), Columbia Pictures’ Total Recall is probably the first film on the horizon with the potential to push Batman down to #2 at the box office (although it is almost certain it won’t make nearly as much money). Based on everything we have see in various trailers for the film, the latest adaptation of Philip K. Dick’s classic short story We Can Remember It For You Wholesale actually looks pretty cool.

The film’s latest behind-the-scenes featurette highlights the action, and makes for a nice little primer for when we finally get to see it August 3rd. Hit the jump to check it out!

after earth

I know what you’re thinking: “Why would I care about anything director M. Night Shyamalan does, when he hasn’t made a good film for years?” Believe me, I have asked myself that same question over and over again with each new film he has released since Lady in the Water (I actually enjoyed that film), and I realize that many haven’t even cared for his films since Unbreakable, or even The Sixth Sense.

But it must be admitted that his latest film, After Earth, does have an intriguing premise, and it helps that actor Will Smith has been cast as the lead character of the movie. The film takes place one thousand years into the future after Earth has been devastated by various cataclysmic events, and Earth’s inhabitants have been transferred to a new world called Nova Prime. Hit the jump to see a promo video for the film depicting a Facebook timeline documenting various fictional historic events that lead up to when the film takes place.

Kevin Tancharoen

Director Kevin Tancharoen, who directed last year’s successful Mortal Kombat: Legacy web series, announced yesterday at San Diego Comic-Con that there will be a Season 2. Based on the popular Mortal Kombat video games, Season 2 of the online series will apparently focus on the MK Tournaments, unlike Season 1, which centered primarily on setting up the tournament’s major players. Hit the jump to watch the video announcement – which, by the way is actually quite comical.

oz the great and powerful

Last week saw the debut of the first poster for Disney’s Oz the Great and Powerful, which showed us just a tiny bit of the fantasy world moviegoers will get to see next March. Now, ET Online has posted a video giving us our first real peek behind the scenes of director Sam Raimi’s prequel to the original Wizard of Oz.

The majority of the video features James Franco (Oz) talking about the film and his character, but we also get a little time with Mila Kunis talking about her witch character (Theodora) as well. Of course, the video also shows us some of the sets from the film, which should be enough to get any fan of the original film or the Baum books quite excited. Hit the jump to watch!

Tumbler Tour Lansing

For those of you not in the know, a life-size, drivable replica of “The Tumbler” Batmobile is on the road touring America right now, along with a replica of the Batpod (which apparently does not drive). Being a huge Batman fan, this is one of those things that I just can’t stop smiling about.

The Batmobile. Right in front of me. Just awesome.

Today, the Tumbler and Batpod arrived in Michigan, my home state. It has already made its way to a Walmart in Lansing, and should now be in Detroit somewhere in front of The Tigers’ Comerica Park as I type this. Hit the jump to check out pictures and video I shot (the video actually shows the Tumbler driving back into the moving truck!). [Update: All videos are now online]
