star wars anime short

i09 has stumbled across a very cool fan-made Star Wars anime short created by YouTube user Otaking77077 that seemed to be worth showcasing here. While it does not feature any of the original classic trilogy characters like Luke, Han, Leia, etc., it is still worth a look for the incredibly stylistic animation of classic trilogy era rebels engaging in exciting galactic dogfights against Imperials.

The original video consisted of absolutely no sound, and has, for some reason, recently been taken down by Otaking77077. However, another YouTube user by the name of SuperMulciber managed to save the video and remix it with music from Sleigh Bells (I would have preferred John Williams’ music from the films, but whatever). Hit the jump to watch!

Update: /Film has the scoop on the original vid by Otaking77077. You can read the update after the original post below.

batman dark knight returns

I’m starting to wonder just how many clips are going to appear online for the upcoming release of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1 from Warner Brothers and DC Comics, as today a fourth clip has been released (albeit, a very cool clip) showcasing Batman taking down some criminals. We still have two weeks to go before the film hits Blu-ray and DVD, so at this rate we probably have a few more clips to go before its premiere if they keep this up! Hit the jump to watch!

batman the dark knight returns part 1

Last month we were treated to a great trailer for Warner Brothers’ upcoming two-part direct-to-DVD release of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Part 1 of the animated film adaptation of Frank Miller’s classic graphic novel hits stores September 25th, and the first clip from the movie has now made its way online.

For those of you who have seen Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises, this first clip from this movie is sure to remind you of a certain plot detail regarding Batman being chased by cops right after he decides to come out of retirement in order to save Gotham City from further acts of crime. Even the dialogue is similar. Hit the jump to watch!

star wars detours 2

Details have been scarce regarding Seth Green and Matthew Senreich’s (creators of Robot Chicken) upcoming Star Wars spinoff series, Star Wars: Detours, but now that has all changed, thanks to a panel they held at Star Wars Celebration VI, the latest Star Wars convention currently happening in Orlando, Florida this weekend.

The show was first announced over two years ago, with StarWars.com making the official announcement, and George Lucas himself vaguely discussing it later that year at Celebration V. The only details known at the time were that the show, then titled Squishies, would appeal to all ages, and utilize characters from all corners of the Star Wars universe to tell comedic stories dealing with “normal, mundane everyday problems.”

Yesterday, the Star Wars Detours Facebook page was unveiled, and today the first trailer and clips from the new animated TV show that were shown at Star Wars Celebration VI have now made their way online for all to enjoy. Hit the jump to watch!

Update: Three More Clips have made their way online, and are now available to watch after the jump as well.

hulk

Well, it looks like featurettes from the upcoming release of Marvel’s The Avengers on Blu-ray will be making their way online every so often until the film actually gets released next month. That’s okay by me, since we’re mostly getting small clips from the Blu-ray, just to simply tease us a bit until we can finally get our hands on the film to enjoy whenever we want.

Yesterday saw the emergence of a gag reel, as well as a featurette talking about Samuel L. Jackson and his role as Nick Fury. Today, we get a clip that focuses on actors Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner/The Hulk) and Chris Evans (Steve Rodgers/Captain America), which you can now view after the jump.

the avengers

A few special feature clips from the upcoming September release of Marvel’s The Avengers on Blu-ray have surfaced in the last couple of days to hold over fans who can’t wait until next month to check them out.

First off, a deleted scene went online yesterday expanding the conversation that Bruce Banner has with the security guard after he fell from the S.H.I.E.L.D. hellicarrier and plummeted to earth. Today, two more features have emerged; one being a gag reel, and the other a one-minute clip from the documentary called Building A Cinematic Universe which features some of the cast and crew talking about how cool Samuel L. Jackson is.

I have only chosen to watch the clip from the documentary since it’s really only a very small teaser for it. However, I have not watched the gag reel or deleted scene. Personally, I like to wait until a Blu-ray hits store shelves to check out the special features, since it gives me even more to look forward to. But, if you don’t care either way, hit the jump to watch these clips!

resident evil retribution

For the most part, the Resident Evil, films have been a joy for geeks wanting pure escapism at the movies. Viral outbreaks, zombies, elaborate action scenes, wild genetic experiments, etc. – it’s all there in the video game-inspired movie series for admirers of action/horror movies to sink their teeth into.

Now, while I personally was not impressed with Afterlife, the franchise’s last outing, the trailers for this September’s Resident Evil: Retribution seem to have kept this blogger’s hope alive that we just might still have something cool to look forward to with the series. I’m not holding my breath, but I enjoyed the first three films, so odds are in my favor. Admit it. The movie does look pretty fun.

To help refresh us a bit on the plot of the series thus far, Yahoo! Movies has put out a nice featurette recapping the story of the main character, Alice, played once again by Milla Jovovich. Hit the jump to check it out!
