Director Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is just one week away, which means more TV Spots, pictures, and featurettes will be making their way online than ever before. One such featurette premiered today, featuring some great new interviews with the cast and crew of the film, as well as some new never-before-seen footage that fans are sure to go nuts over (I know I did). It may be even better than any of Jackson’s previous production video blogs, which is saying a lot. Hit the jump to watch!

It has been since July that we received the last video blog from Peter Jackson for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, so it is actually quite a pleasant surprise to get another one. I honestly thought they were done.
This is the first Video Blog for the film that we have received since it was announced that The Hobbit will be a trilogy, and yet they don’t really make a big point about it in the blog, only briefly mentioning that there are two more films to go after this one. Peter Jackson and company continue with business as usual here, mainly dealing with the various facets of post-production. We get a fun look behind what goes into the last few weeks of making the film, including the soundtrack, computer effects, and even pre-visualization – which is apparently still going on even in post-production! It is simply a great behind-the-scenes tour of the madness that engulfs this massive production, which is far from over. There are even quite a few laughs to be had along the way, including some hilarity dealing with dwarven beards…
… you’ll know what I mean when you watch…

With the news of Disney buying Lucasfilm and their plans for producing more Star Wars films being the hot topic of conversation among geek circles these days, one of the things fans of the series have been looking forward to these last few weeks are the video blogs from StarWars.com, featuring Lynne Hale interviewing newly-appointed Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy and Founder George Lucas talking about the future of Star Wars.
Sadly, Part 3 of the five-part video series isn’t as exciting as the first two, since it doesn’t reveal any more news on Star Wars: Episode VII-IX, but it is still worth a watch. In the video, Lucas and Kennedy talk about their 35+ year working relationship, and how Lucas approached Kennedy to talk about passing the baton down to her to lead Lucasfilm and Star Wars into the future. Check out the video below!

Just to be clear, this is, in fact, a real clip from Star Trek Into Darkness, J.J. Abrams’ sequel to 2009’s hit film Star Trek. However, being that it was revealed on Conan O’Brien’s late night show Conan, it comes as no surprise that the clip is hilariously only three frames long.
According to Abrams, apparently Paramount Pictures actually did not want him to bring a clip of the movie on the show so soon before the film’s release next May, and would only allow him something extremely short. Of course, this could just have also been a stunt pulled by Abrams and Conan just to get some laughs (it got me to chuckle, anyway). Either way, the clip is for real, and features Spock (Zackary Quinto) in a volcano. Hit the jump to “watch.”

Today marks the release of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1, and we have one final clip to show, featuring nothing more than Robin running and doing flips. Not much to see here, but we haven’t seen much from Robin for the film in previous clips, so it is at least worth a look. Hit the jump to see this story’s version of Robin, who is actually a female this time around by the name of Carrie Kelly, voiced by Ariel Winter.

This sixth clip from Warner Brothers/DC Comics’ Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 1 might just be the best clip yet that has been released in the last month. It simply features Batman at his best, striking terror into the hearts of criminals, and the way the scene is choreographed is pretty fun.
