William Friedkin_Garris_crop

One of the most frightening films I have ever seen (maybe the most frightening) is The Exorcist, directed by William Friedkin. In fact, as unbelievable as it sounds, I just watched the film in its entirety for the first time a couple of weeks ago. It took me that long to finally have enough guts to sit down and watch it.

Coincidentally, filmmaker Mick Garris recently sat down with Friedkin to discuss his career in filmmaking on Post-Mortem with Mick Garris. The five-part interview will air on FEARnet starting March 14th, as well as Verizon FiOS starting March 19th and On Demand (VOD) as of March 21st. Believe me when I say that this is one interview you do not want to miss! Hit the jump for the official press release, hi-res photos and an exclusive video clip from the interview!

Garris_Carpenter_sm

Award-winning filmmaker Mick Garris, host of FEARnet‘s signature series Post-Mortem with Mick Garris, has conducted many interviews with horror film legends on the show, including Roger Corman (which we featured here), Robert Englund and Frank Darabont.

More recently, Garris sat down with Halloween creator John Carpenter to discuss his career. While this five-part interview does not debut on FEARnet until Monday, February 28th (and also Verizon FiOS cable channel 197 starting March 4th and On Demand March 7th), FEARnet was kind enough to send us the official press release as well as photos and an exclusive preview clip of the interview. Hit the jump to check them out!

Last month, the web was swirling with the news that Ridley Scott‘s Alien prequel supposedly became an entirely new science-fiction film called Prometheus due to script revisions at the hand of LOST writer Damon Lindelof.

While the film is in fact now called Prometheus, actor Michael Fassbender (X-Men: First Class), who will star in the film, said to MTV today that the movie is still connected to the Alien films. Hit the jump to watch the interview!

Fringe Producers

FOX’s TV series Fringe, while fairly successful, has not gained huge ratings for the network, and ever since the announcement came that the show was moving from Thursdays to Fridays, fans and non-fans alike assumed the worst since many of the network’s shows that made the move to Fridays ended up getting canceled.

To address the fans on this issue, Fringe‘s Facebook page posted a great little featurette with producers Jeff Pinkner and J.H. Wyman where they address the mid-season move to Fridays and why the fans shouldn’t be worried (last Friday’s ratings should also prove to be encouraging). It really sheds some much needed light on the situation and everyone who was skeptical of the show’s new night should at least check it out. Hit the jump to watch!

Qui-Gon Jinn

No, Liam Neeson is not shooting new footage to be reedited into the Star Wars movies for the Blu-ray release (as far as we know). However, he will be officially returning to the same universe to voice Jedi Master “Qui-Gon Jinn” in Cartoon Networks’s Star Wars: The Clone Wars TV series! Hit the jump for more!

Adjustment Bureau

Back in May, PCM posted the trailer for The Adjustment Bureau, starring Matt Damon, Emily Blunt and Terence Stamp. It was originally set to debut last September, but was delayed and will now be released March 4th of this year.

The film is about an organization called – you guessed it – “The Adjustment Bureau,” which essentially monitors everyone’s fate and makes sure people do not steer off the path, so to speak. As Matt Damon so perfectly describes in this new featurette, it focuses on “fate verses free will, and what happens if you thumb your nose at fate.” Hit the jump to watch the new featurette!

Oblivion_01

Just for kicks, io9 recently posted a trailer for the 1994 movie Oblivion, which was a low-budget movie about “cowboys and aliens.” Of course, this is quite funny to look back on because of Jon Favreau‘s big-budget film coming out this year that is actually called Cowboys & Aliens starring Daniel Craig. Compare the two drastically different trailers after the jump (pay close attention to George Takaei‘s campy lines in the film for a couple of Star Trek references)!

Star Wars Holiday Special_2

Hardcore Yoda-heads are well aware of the abysmal 97-minute Star Wars TV spin-off known as The Star Wars Holiday Special, which reunited the cast from the feature film and also brought on special guest stars like Bea Arthur, Art Carney and the Jefferson Starship band. Broadcast only once on November 17, 1978 on CBS, it was never officially released on any type of home media because of how terrible it was. Even George Lucas himself reportedly said that, if he could, he would track down every copy of the show and smash it with a sledgehammer.

In response, Late Night Explosion created a 5-minute abridged version of the special as a humorous way for fans to not have to sit through the whole thing (of course, in order to fully appreciate the video, you have to have seen the original version beforehand). While this still doesn’t make the special “good,” it is certainly more tolerable. Check it out after the jump!

C-3P0 Clone Wars

StarWars.com recently posted a new video, animated in the style of Cartoon Network’s Star Wars: The Clone Wars TV series, in which C-3P0 explains the basics of the Clone Wars. In a way, it seems to be paying homage to a certain Star Wars commerical from the early 80s where C-3P0 delivers “a message from a distant galaxy far, far away.” Hit the jump to watch both videos!
