In case you haven’t been keeping up with this, a live-action/CGI movie version of the hit 1980s cartoon The Smurfs is in the works. During filming, some snapshots of Hank Azaria as “Gargamel” (the Surfs’ arch nemesis) have hit the web. Check ’em out below!
Official Plot Synopsis from Sony:
Audiences everywhere are in for a Smurfy good time as the Smurfs make their first 3D trip to the big screen. When the evil wizard Gargamel chases the tiny blue Smurfs out of their village, they tumble from their magical world and into ours – in fact, smack dab in the middle of Central Park. Just three apples high and stuck in the Big Apple, the Smurfs must find a way to get back to their village before Gargamel tracks them down.
The Smurfs live-action/CGI movie hits theaters August 3, 2011 in 3D, and stars Neil Patrick Harris, Anton Yelchin, Katy Perry, Alan Cumming, George Lopez, Paul Reubens, Fred Armisen, B.J. Novak, Jeff Foxworthy, Wolfgang Puck, Gary Basaraba, Kenan Thompson, John Oliver, Jonathan Winters, Sofia Vergara, Hank Azaria and Jayma Mays.
I kind of thing he looks a little young for Gargamel, but still looks quite a bit like the cartoon – which is awesome.
