The teaser for the heavily-hyped Avatar film by James Cameron is finally online courtesy of Apple.com in HD. You can also watch it after the jump:

This is a film that I have not mentioned at all since the debut of this website because it was discussed practically every week on most other movie websites, but I figured this teaser for the film was too good to not post it here as well.

Apple summarizes the film as follows:

AVATAR takes us to a spectacular new world beyond our imagination, where a reluctant hero embarks on a journey of redemption and discovery, as he leads a heroic battle to save a civilization. The film was first conceived by Cameron 14 years ago, when the means to realize his vision did not yet exist. Now, after four years of actual production work, AVATAR delivers a fully immersive cinematic experience of a new kind, where the revolutionary technology invented to make the film, disappears into the emotion of the characters and the sweep of the story.

Since I have never made it out to Comic-Con, this is the first time I’ve seen any footage from the film. It looks great, and I’ve been waiting so long for Cameron to direct again so I will definitely be seeing this!

Avatar will hit regular theaters and IMAX in 3D December 18th.
