Last night, Star Wars fans from around the world were able to check out the behind-the-scenes video reel that played at the San Diego Comic-Con 2015 Star Wars panel, and it was awesome. Now, thanks to io9, we can also check out some of the highlights from the panel itself! Hit the jump to watch over 10 minutes of footage from the panel (Update: Lucasfilm has now released the full panel online, embedded below for your viewing pleasure)!
During the session, The Force Awakens diretor J.J. Abrams, producer Kathleen Kennedy and writer Lawrence Kasdan all talk about their experiences making the film and what stage they’re currently at with the movie. They even bring out one of the practical creatures they used during the film – the same one from the Force For Change promo we saw last year. Members of the main the cast were there as well. Oscar Isaac, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Domhall Gleeson and Gwendoline Christie all revealed what they could about their characters and talked about their experiences making the film.
But of course old-school fans want to see cast members from the original trilogy who are returning again for this film. Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill were there (obviously), but Harrison Ford rarely makes public appearances at conventions. We were told he wanted to attend Star Wars Celebration Anaheim, but couldn’t due to recovering from the plane crash he was in earlier this year. However, that was not the case this time around, and Ford was able to attend, reuniting the classic Star Wars trio in front of thousands of fans for the first time in, like, forever.
Probably one of the coolest things during that day, however, was the fact that they had it organized for EVERY fan who attended to walk to a special location in San Diego to experience a Star Wars concert with members of the cast and crew. What an experience this all must have been!
