Chris Carter made his mark in television history in a big way with The X-Files and Millennium back in the 90s. Gale Anne Hurd became one of the biggest producers in film with The Terminator, Terminator 2, and Aliens, and more recently in television with AMC’s The Walking Dead. Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the two TV/film legends have teamed up to create a new series for AMC titled Area 51. Seems right up Carter’s alley. Hit the jump for details!
The Hollywood Reporter gives the following synopsis for Area 51:
Writer/EP: Chris Carter (The X Files); EP: Gale Anne Hurd (The Walking Dead). Based on the New York Times best-seller Area 51: An Uncensored History of America’s Top Secret Military Base by Annie Jacobsen. A contemporary conspiracy thriller revealing the true story behind the infamous Area 51, America’s most mysterious military installation.
Chris Carter is definitely making a comeback in a big way. Recently, he created the pilot episode of the Amazon Originals series The After, which rapidly became a hit and received the green light for a full season. Now he’s gone even bigger by striking a deal with the executive producer of The Walking Dead – one of the biggest series on television today. Without Carter, TV just wouldn’t be what it is today, so it’s about time he make a triumphant return!
Now, if only he could just get that third X-Files film going…
