The first official photo of Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman in Christopher Nolan‘s The Dark Knight Rises has just been released via Facebook and the film’s official website. Hit the jump to take a look at the full HD photo!

I have to admit, I wasn’t thrilled when I first saw this photo. I don’t think it looks terrible, and it definitely fits in the Nolan Batman universe. But nothing about the costume resembles a cat that I can see. Perhaps the costume evolves throughout the film?
The more I think about it though, the more it makes sense if this is indeed the final Catwoman outfit. Perhaps it’ll only be her “cat burglar” tendencies that causes her to become known as Catwoman, and not anything about the costume itself. I suppose as long as the character is true to the comics, in that she is a conniving thief who has a thing for Batman, the costume doesn’t really have to look “cat-ish.” Considering what we know about Nolan‘s “real-world” portrayal of Batman and his enemies, this really does fit. Nolan has not let me down yet, so I have no reason to think he will now.
The only question I have now is, what is she doing with the Batcycle?!
Update: Batman News had this to say about the costume: “Anne Hathaway can be seen wearing some high-tech glasses, but I’m told that she will be wearing a cowl/mask at some point in the movie.” The photo’s original file name is “selina_kyle.jpg,” so perhaps this is just a precursor for what is to come. Could a cowl/mask ruin her look as Catwoman? I guess we’ll have to wait and see if any more images appear with Anne Hathaway wearing one.
