The second trailer for director Rupert Wyatt‘s Rise of the Planet of the Apes has appeared online over at Yahoo! Movies, revealing more of the plot and showing off some incredible new footage that really gives us a better idea of the look and feel of the film. Apes fans, get ready for the prequel/reboot you’ve been waiting for and hit the jump to watch apes revolt!

Official Plot Synopsis:

RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES is an origin story in the truest sense of the term. Set in present day San Francisco, the film is a reality-based cautionary tale, a science fiction/science fact blend, where man’s own experiments with genetic engineering lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy.

I think it’s clear now that Andy Serkis‘ portrayal of Caesar will definitely be his most talked about performance since Gollum in The Lord of the Rings. It is truly amazing how we as an audience can gain such empathy towards an ape by only watching a couple minutes of the film. I cannot wait to see the final product this August!

Rise of the Planet of the Apes, directed by Rupert Wyatt, stars James Franco, Andy Serkis, Freida Pinto, John Lithgow and Brian Cox. It hits theaters nationwide August 5th!
