It seems like every week we get new casting news regarding director Zack Snyder‘s upcoming Superman reboot!
While we already know that Henry Cavill will portray Clark Kent/Superman, and that Diane Lane and Kevin Costner will be playing Kent’s adoptive parents, one main role that was yet to be determined was that of plucky journalist Lois Lane. Many names were in the running, but now Snyder has finally confirmed that actress Amy Adams (The Fighter) has won the role. Read on for more info!
Snyder on Amy Adams and the character of Lois Lane (From LA Times):
“There was a big, giant search for Lois. For us it was a big thing and obviously a really important role. We did a lot of auditioning but we had this meeting with Amy Adams and after that I just felt she was perfect for it.”
“It goes back to what I’ve said about Superman and making him really understandable for today. What’s important to us is making him relevant and real and making him empathetic to today’s audience so that we understand the decisions he makes. That applies to Lois as well. She has to be in the same universe as him [in tone and substance].”
The article also says that, while the character was originally an FDR-era creation, Snyder wants Lois Lane to be portrayed in the new Superman film with “contemporary appeal and spirit.”
Sounds like Miss Lane to me! Now, if we can just get confirmation on who will play the villain…
