As you probably know from my previous posting of the trailer for the Lost Boys: The Thirst DVD/Blu-ray, my hopes were raised a bit after watching the preview. The franchise’s previous straight-to-DVD installment, Lost Boys: The Tribe, was pretty much a total mess of a film, save for the welcome appearance of Corey Feldman’s character “Edgar Frog,” who will have a much more prominent role in the The Thirst.
To follow up on that post, you can check out Collider‘s surprisingly positive review of The Thirst. Hit the jump for some excerpts from the review.
Collider says of the third film:
“It’s not a ‘good movie’ but it’s fun and Lost Boys fans can breath a sigh of relief that this third film attempts, and mostly succeeds, to do right by them.”
“…the final fight is highly entertaining in a Phantom Menace type of way with a bad ass exclamation point on the end.”
“With Haim gone and Joel Schumacher, Jami Gertz, Dianne Wiest, Jason Patric and others nowhere to be found, Corey Feldman and fellow Frog brother Jamison Newlander do about as good a job as possible with the talent assembled for Lost Boys: The Thirst. They’ve created an entertaining Lost Boys sequel with a B-movie sensibility. It’s passable, watchable action packed schlock that will keep true fans of the series smiling.”
The review isn’t all positive, but overall it definitely praises the film way more than any Lost Boys fan would for the previous installment. Here’s to hoping that fans will embrace this new film, even if it is only enjoyable on a B-movie level.
Lost Boys: The Thirst arrives on DVD and Blu-ray October 12th. Head on over to Collider for the full review!
