In case you were not in attendance at the Star Wars Celebration V convention, the new trailer for season three of Star Wars: The Clone Wars was first shown on Saturday, and it has now debuted on StarWars.com. If you’re a fan of anything Star Wars, you should check this out. Click here to view the trailer!
I was there first hand watching it on a huge digital screen with epic sound, and let me tell you – the energy in the room was sky high for this trailer. The animation keeps getting better and better, and it appears that the stories are getting less kid-friendly and more dark in tone. And I guess I didn’t know this before, but apparently the Republic Commando video game is more popular than I realized, because when Delta Squad stepped out from the ship in the trailer the crowd went nuts.
This trailer also included the debut of the Nightsister Sith Witch from the planet Dathomir, who was originally going to be used in The Phantom Menace but was rejected. Also, the bounty hunter IG-88 from The Empire Strikes Back makes an appearance as well as Darth Maul’s brother – Savage Oppress! So much was thrown into this trailer that it really is hard to take it all in. All I know is that fanboys everywhere are going nuts over this trailer right now.
I’m sure I am not alone on this, but I really think that when the series comes to a close they should make another feature film. While I enjoyed the first “movie” (it was actually the first three or four episodes of the show edited together and released as a film) and the first season, the series grew up so much in Season 2 and it appears that we’re really in for a treat with the third season. Another feature film makes so much sense, given the new level of quality the seriesĀ has achieved, and the fact that its fan base has grown much larger since the premiere of the first film.
Season 3 of The Clone Wars begins September 17th. Bring it on!
