Many fans were let down with the second installment of Michael Bay’s Transformers franchise, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. While I liked it more than a lot of people seemed to, I’ll even admit that there were some parts that I found dreadful.

However, Devin Faraci from CHUD has a scoop on the opening sequence for Transformers 3 that really makes it sound like there’s hope for the fans this time around. Hit the jump to find out the details (spoilers ahead)!

Transformers 3 opening scene details (from CHUD):

“There’s a disturbance on the Moon. A robot shaped disturbance. Scientists on Earth see this and the information gets passed up the chain of command. In the White House men in black suits are breathlessly running through the halls, and they burst into the Oval Office. The president is behind the desk, back turned to the door, looking out the window. One of the men tells the president, ‘Sir, something’s happened on the Moon!’ The president turns around.

It’s John F. Kennedy.”

If you remember about a month ago, USA Today reported on plot details for Transformers 3, revealing that the Transformers had a role to play during the space race between the U.S.S.R. and the U.S.A. in the 1960s. Obviously, the opening sequence suggests that this is why JFK wanted America to be the first to the Moon. CHUD has also gotten word that this is Steven Spielberg’s idea, who is back as Executive Producer on the film. Doesn’t surprise me one bit there!

Sound good? Yeah, I think so too.
