Deadline reports that Men in Black 3 is officially a go now, with Columbia Pictures releasing the film on May 25, 2012! Will Smith has already signed on, and director Barry Sonnenfeld will direct the film, shooting in in 3D.
This project is already full speed ahead, with artist Rick Baker already working on designing and building the creatures for the movie, and David Koepp polishing Etan Cohen’s script. Tommy Lee Jones and Josh Brolin are in negotiations right now to star in the film as well, and Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald will return as MIB3 producers. Steven Spielberg will be executive producer on the film.
This release date will sqeeze the film in with a bunch of other potential blockbuster films that summer, including Star Trek 2, Batman 3 and The Avengers. Normally, Will Smith likes his films to be released during July 4th weekend, but since the Spider-Man reboot will be released then, MIB 3 will be released in May.
Can’t wait for this one!
