Recently, it was going around the web that Kick-Ass director Mathew Vaughn was the front-runner to direct X-Men: First Class. Then, it was said that the deal fell through last Thursday, and that other directors were now lined up. However, according to Deadline, all that has changed once again and 20th Century Fox is closing a deal with Mathew Vaughn after all.
This comes as great news for fans of his latest film, Kick-Ass (which I have not seen), about a loner high school student who loves comic books and decides to become a superhero himself. Sounds like this guy may be a good choice to direct an X-Men film.
Originally, Bryan Singer, who directed the first two X-Men films, was going to direct First Class, but decided to just produce the film so that he could direct Jack the Giant Killer. He was my first choice to direct X-Men again, but oh well. It looks like it has fallen into competent hands so I’m not too worried.
