At a Robin Hood Press Junket, Collider was there to interview Ridley Scott about his upcoming Alien prequel. It was there that he revealed further details than what we all learned yesterday. Read on to find out more!
At the Press Junket, Ridley Scott confirmed that he will be shooting the Alien prequel in 3D. When asked if he’d use the 3D cameras that James Cameron used on Avatar, he replied, “No, I think they’ve already moved beyond. Jim said that this technique, which had taken them four years, he’d said that now you could do it in two. Technology’s shifting all the time.”
While I suspected that he might shoot in 3D, I did not suspect the next thing he confirmed: Scott plans on making not one Alien prequel, but TWO! Concerning the story order of the films in relation to the original Alien, Scott said, “It’ll be prequel one and two. Then Alien 1.”
How cool is that?!!!
Now, Scott says in the interview that he is not shooting them back to back and is just working on the first one at the moment. Some have suspected that he may only end up doing one prequel when all is said and done. Personally, I suspect that the second film will get made if the story is meant to lead up to what happened on that ship the crew finds in the original Alien. If the first prequel does not explain what happened, then a second film will inevitably get made. At this point in production I am assuming that the script has been written to finish at the end of two prequels, not one. If it were to be one prequel, they would now have to re-write it so that we get to that ship from the first Alien at the end of just one prequel film.
