Steve Sansweet, head of fan relations at Lucasfilm, said at the Chicago Comics and Entertainment Expo (C2E2) that a Blu-ray release of all six live-action Star Wars films (Episodes I-VI) is in the works! Read on to find out more!
At the Expo, Sansweet had this to say:
“We have been at work for a couple of years working on—I won’t call it the Ultimate Set because we keep finding stuff—but, a very full set of all six movies on Blu-ray with lots of extra material. We’re finding all kinds of scenes from dailies that have never been seen before. Beyond all of those things that you know about… there are some real treasures.”
YES!!!!! Cannot wait for this release!
Sansweet said that they are not ready to announce a release date for the Blu-rays, but he said that “it won’t be in the too distant future.”
He did not say if they will be released individually, in prequel and original trilogy box sets, Saga sets, or all of the above. There also was no indication of whether or not these editions will include the original versions of IV-VI, or if any of the movies will be updated more.
For speculation’s sake, I am sure that this will be the release where Episode I has the all-CGI Yoda (shown most recently at “Star Wars in Concert”) instead of the puppet that many fans despise the look of. I actually didn’t have a problem with it, but whatever.
What would you like to see on these new sets?
