So it appears that Joss Whedon is in final negotiations with Marvel Studios to direct the upcoming Avengers film, scheduled for release on May 4, 2012.
The Avengers will be comprised of a team of Marvel superheroes, including “Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), as well as SHIELD leader Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson),” Deadline reports. They also add that other superheroes will likely be involved, but that these are just the actors in “active superhero duty” on other comic book films.
Joss Whedon is famous for a number of TV shows, such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly (as well as its feature film Serenity) and Dollhouse. He is also writing the upcoming film titled The Cabin in the Woods.
To be honest, I don’t really have much of an opinion on Joss Whedon’s work, since I never really watched any of his TV shows or movies. What I do know is that he has a huge fan base, so hopefully this recent news bodes well for both the fans of The Avengers comics and Joss Whedon.
