Here it is. The first official trailer for Sylvester Stallone’s latest action film The Expendables has hit the web on Yahoo!. Check it out after the jump!
Official Plot Synopsis:
THE EXPENDABLES is a hard-hitting action/thriller about a group of mercenaries hired to infiltrate a South American country and overthrow its ruthless dictator. Once the mission begins, the men realize things aren’t quite as they appear, finding themselves caught in a dangerous web of deceit and betrayal. With their mission thwarted and an innocent life in danger, the men struggle with an even tougher challenge – one that threatens to destroy this band of brothers.
Honestly, I think the trailer itself gives a slightly false representation of itself. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis only have cameos in this movie and anyone watching this trailer may get the idea that they will be in it more than they actually are. Obviously this is to get more people to see the film. Just don’t expect huge roles from these guys, especially Schwarzenegger. I am very excited to see him in a movie again though!
Another thing that kind of bothered me was the music. Can’t action film trailers have some decent music for a change? It feels too “Mountain Dew nu metal” for my taste.
However, while the trailer may not be the greatest, it still got me really excited for the movie – just for the mere fact that it has all these great action stars in one film. Not only that, but when’s the last time you’ve seen Dolph Lundgren in a movie?!
The Expendables stars Sylvester Stallone, Dolph Lundgren, Jet Li, Jason Statham, Terry Crews, Randy Couture, Giselle Itie, Eric Roberts, David Zayas, Mickey Rourke and Steve Austin. It opens nationwide August 13th!
