3D! 3D! 3D! Yeah, it’s everywhere. Well, art director Roger Christian in his chat over at Shadow Locked had some great things to say about where the Alien franchise is going and if the rumors about Ridley Scott’s Alien prequel being 3D are true.
“Ridley’s doing the next Alien in 3D,” Christian said.
When asked about where the franchise could go after the prequel is done, he had this to say:
“Ridley told me some of his ideas when we were here in Toronto. He has a very clear understanding of where this should go. They kind of stopped dead one of the greatest horror franchises there’s ever been, and it had legs to go on. So I’m hoping he’ll revive another three. The world certainly wants it, and the fans want it – everybody.”
The article does confirm that Roger Christian, who was the art director for the original Alien film (as well as a little film called Star Wars), is not officially involved with the new Alien prequel as of right now, although he hopes to be. He is still good friends with Ridley Scott, as he shared quite a bit of Alien info with Christian over in Toronto. It would be great if he actually gets involved with this new prequel.
I think the film being 3D could be very cool, especially if it is actually being shot in 3D (converting a film shot in 2D over to 3D never works quite as well). Imagine having alien acid blood fly right at you, or aliens reaching out at you? The possibilities are endless with this! And I am always up for more Alien films, just so long as they’re done well and there is a reason to do them. Hopefully it all comes true!
