Sigourney Weaver, who played Dana Barrett in the first two Ghostbusters films, has leaked what may be some very big spoilers about Ghostbusters 3 in an interview on Channel 4 News (UK).  I will warn you, I do not know if I liked what she revealed, and I am not sure if the details she talked about are completely accurate. Okay, Dana’s son Oscar being a new Ghostbuster makes a lot of sense to me, and I kind of like the idea if it is true. But Peter Venkman as a ghost? I know it is totally possible in the Ghostbusters universe, but is this taking it too far?

Of course I will be seeing this when it comes out no matter what, since I loved the first two movies growing up. Also, we cannot completely dismiss the movie until we have actually seen it. Who knows? Maybe Venkman as a ghost is the greatest idea the writers could ever come up with.

For now, I would just consider this a rumor, until we have more confirmation. But it does sound like this could be happening, since Weaver has apparently read the script. Then again, she did say, “I think he may be a ghost.”

Ghostbusters 3 is due out in theaters some time in 2012.
