Universal has just revealed on /Film that The Wolfman remake, due out February 12, 2010 in theaters everywhere, has been rated by the MPAA: Yes folks, The Wolfman is Rated ‘R’!

From /Film:

Universal just informed me that The Wolfman has finally received a rating from the MPAA, and has been rated ‘R’ for ‘bloody horror, violence and gore.'”

This is extremely good news to me. I was totally expecting a PG-13 rating. This movie should be violent. This is, after all, a werewolf we’re talking about here.

Of course, violence in a remake of such a beloved classic should be done tastefully and not just gore for gore’s sake. But based on the previews, it “looks” like I have nothing to worry about. However, Alien vs. Predator: Requiem “looked” good in the previews and was rated ‘R,’ so you never know…

My hopes are pretty high for this remake. Let’ s hope they make a great werewolf movie!
