Roger Corman, director of old school horror flicks such as House of Usher and Pit and the Pendulum, was approached by Netflix to produce a horror mini-series for the web in which the audience gets to actually choose how the series progresses. Joe Dante, famous for directing The Howling and Gremlins has been brought on to direct, and Corey Feldman stars in the lead role! Read on to find out more about Splatter!
From Dread Central:
“‘Splatter’ is the haunting tale of rock-and-roll legend Johnny Splatter, a musical genius who accumulated as many hit records as he did enemies on his climb up the fame ladder. His sudden death, ruled a suicide, brings a small circle of professional parasites and hangers-on to his Hollywood Hills mansion for the reading of his last will and testament. But as his “frenmies” come to pick the bones clean, Johnny has returned for a deadly encore long after what they thought was his final curtain.”
The first episode premiered yesterday, October 29th. Viewers get to cast their vote on who Johnny’s next victim will be in the next episode, thus the writers, director and producer must produce the next episode in the days between episodes once the voting results come in! Episode 2 will be online November 6th, and the final episode on Friday, November 13th. Check out the video below from Shock ‘Till You Drop for more details!
Spoilers Below:
Episode 1:
The first episode was quite cheesy, I thought. But I guess that is the whole point! I think it’ll be a lot of fun to vote on how the next episodes will go. It’s kind of like “Choose Your Own Adventure” for the web! Click here to check out Netflix’s Splatter for free!
Episode 2:
Well, looks like my wish didn’t come true. Fiona’s heart got ripped out by Johnny Splatter! I seriously thought she was the nicest of the remaining three victims, but this episode revealed that she was a backstabber! I still say Mortis should be killed in Episode 3, so you all know where my vote goes! Tune in next week on Friday the 13th for the final episode!
Episode 3:
Well, it looks like I finally got my wish, and Mortis finally got what was coming to him. Spencer Pope (played by Tony Todd) was the last remaining guy, and you’ll just have to head on over to Netflix see what happens between him and Johnny Splatter in this episode and how it all ends. It might be helpful to go back and watch the first two episodes just to refresh your memory before you watch the third. I personally liked the ending. The entire things was a glorified cheese fest, but quite an enjoyable one at that.
