Besides The Wolf Man remake, another Universal Monsters remake has been in the works for quite some time now: The Invisible Man. Ever since the terrible Hollow Man film back in 2000, I’ve been itching to see a complete modern take on the 1933 Invisible Man film which starred the great Claude Rains.
The idea of a man who can make himself invisible is so intriguing because he can literally take the world hostage if he wanted to. Imagine if that power got into the wrong hands?
Well, screen writer David Goyer has been penning a draft and just finished it! Here’s what he had to say at Shock ‘Till You Drop:
“I’ve since finished a draft and I’m in the midst of revisions for it right now,” he says. “Universal seems pretty high on it. So, they’re just breathing down my neck to get the revisions done. It’s a movie they’d like to make.”
I really hope Universal picks this one up and does a great job with it. The original is a classic, but I think they could retell the story wonderfully today.
The Wolf Man opens on November 6th, and if it does well I think we’ll see The Invisible Man. Also being remade are The Bride of Frankenstein, and possibly The Creature from the Black Lagoon. I want it all!
