Bloody-Disgusting reported a few days ago that Carl Rinsch, a director of music videos and commercials for Scott Free Productions has been hired by Fox to direct a remake of Ridley Scott’s Alien film. Well, Collider has a great Q&A with Tony Scott, Ridley’s brother and co-founder of Scott Free Productions, about the rumor:
Yes, Carl Rinsch is going to do the prequel to Alien.
A PREQUEL!! This is great news. I think we were all worried about a remake. Ridley Scott’s original film is one that is such a classic that it really does not need to be remade. Sure, you can tell it was made in the 70s, but it still holds up today. So a prequel is something I can get much more excited about. I’m not sure about the choice of director, but Michael Bay also directed music videos before he made movies and look and the films he has made!
I am not entirely sure what the prequel would be about, but I’m hoping that somehow we find out how that U-shaped spaceship crashes on that planet we saw in the first Alien.
