“9” is a new CG animated film coming out on 9/9/09 (funny, huh?) in limited release. It’s based on Shane Acker‘s short film of the same name. It was actually nominated for Best Short Film at the Academy Awards. The MTV Movies blog description of the movie is as follows:

“‘9’ follows nine ragdolls on a quest to save humanity in a post-apocalyptic wasteland.”

Hmmm…

Anyway, I’ve heard of this before but didn’t know much about it. But it looks sweet! I think I could possibly get nightmares from watching this movie. I like that we’re getting a scarier family movie coming out. Reminds me of the good ol’ days of the 1980s when they weren’t afraid to give us those types of films.

Also, if this looks to you like something Tim Burton would make, it will come as no suprise to you that he is one of the the producers on this film. Lastly, lending their voices to the film are Elijah Wood, John C. Reilly, Jennifer Connelly, Crispin Glover, Martin Landau and Christopher Plummer.
