Director David Twohy and actor Vin Diesel will soon being rolling the cameras on Riddick (presumably a tentative title), the third movie in the Riddick trilogy. Originally titled The Chronicles of Riddick: Dead Man Stalking, an official plot synopsis for the film has hit the web. Check it out below!

Official Plot Synopsis:

Betrayed by his own kind and left for dead on a desolate planet, Riddick (Diesel) fights for survival against alien predators and becomes more powerful and dangerous than ever before. Soon bounty hunters from throughout the galaxy descend on Riddick only to find themselves pawns in his greater scheme for revenge. With his enemies right where he wants them, Riddick unleashes a vicious attack of vengeance before returning to his home planet of Furya to save it from destruction.

Sounds pretty awesome. Twohy has stated in the past that this film would have less of a budget than its predecessor, The Chronicles of Riddick, and be more in line with the first film, Pitch Black. No word on whether or not his desire to make it rated ‘R’ will happen, but since his desire is to make a film more like the first, I’d say it’s likely.

Personally, I am a fan of both films. I enjoyed the smaller scale of Pitch Black, but also really loved the larger scale of The Chronicles of Riddick. So whether they chose to go small or large in scale for the third film, I would have been happy with either decision. The smaller scale should allow for more character development for Richard B. Riddick, which is a great thing. He really is a cool character and I can’t wait to see him return to the big screen.
